The DES AIR (Artist-in-Residence) program brings a professional artist into our school to interact and teach our students not for one class, but for a week-long study of the artist’s craft. The artist allows students to have multiple interactions and experiences with their art making. By having an artist as part of the Dunbarton Elementary School community, we hope to offer a high-quality, in-school art-making opportunity alongside a professional artist that builds knowledge, appreciation and exposure to the arts. AIR is proudly sponsored by DES PTO.
Past projects have included creating a musical history of Dunbarton, a mosaic entryway for DES, french tapestry weaving and Dunbarton’s Stone Farm conservation effort.
The primary fundraising source for this program is our annual Harvest Moon Supper. This community event, held each November, includes a full turkey dinner, gift basket and 50/50 raffles with proceeds directly supporting AIR.
We’re thrilled to have Monte Selby joining us for our AIR Program in 2017. Learn more here.
